Chris Ulm is a master storyteller and I was pulled into the story right away, thanks to the strong description of the protagonist’s psyche. It doesn’t take long for the reader to know that Kim is a troubled child. The connection between the characters is well established and I enjoyed how well the author writes about the school life of the young protagonist. A sense of loneliness accompanies her and readers know why. The story is told in a gripping voice that reflects the emotions and thoughts of the protagonist. I rooted for Kim and wanted to see what choices she would make in the story. Vengeance: Children of Faust is filled with realism, a story that is emotionally and psychologically rich.

This is a very interesting novel with a multidimensional protagonist, a young character who quickly wins the sympathy of readers because she is written realistically. The themes are very relevant and I loved how the author explores the difficult world of children who suffer from poor parenting and abuse at school. Themes of friendship, death, revenge, love, and abuse are ingeniously explored in this story. Chris Ulm’s novel is an addictive read for fans of young adult novels with hints of the paranormal; the writing is top-notch, featuring beautiful descriptions and great dialogues. Vengeance: Children of Faust has the potential to entertain readers while provoking reflection on specific themes. It is a fast-paced, engaging narrative.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of reading, but I was always engaged in what was going on throughout the story. It kept me hooked and wanting to never put the book down.
Looking at the title "Vengeance: Children of Faust", you might think its a simple supernatural revenge story, but that is simply not true at all. It is so much deeper than that. There is love and heartbreak. You follow Kim's story but most people including myself can relate to her school life and the emotions she feels. It's relatable.
The world Chris has built can be convoluted at times, but he does a good job at giving just enough detail to describe what is going at at any given moment, but doesn't hold you hand and lets you use your imagination.
This book is definitely meant for at least two readings. I say this because as you go through the story, you'll notice little callbacks to previous events that foreshadowed what is currently happening. It honestly amazed me and left me dumbfounded at times because he hid them well but did so in a clever way. This world he built is so rich in the environment, characters and backstories. His creativity is amazing.
I can't recommend this book enough. It's a little on the long side, but It never feels like it's being dragged on.
He has worked so so hard on this and for a long time and it really shows. You can easily tell he has poured his heart and soul into it, whether it be from the books themselves, the artwork for all the characters and extra, the soundtracks. He has done it all.

Seriously, 10/10, do yourself a favor, pick this up and enjoy yourself.

I have been a subscriber to Chris's channel on Youtube for a while. When I found out that he was writing a book, I was very excited. I am an author as well. Overall, this book was fun and kept me reading. I related to the main character in a way I wish I didn't. So, I felt the feels for Kimberly. The main reason why I didn't give this book five stars is because I found a few typos and a few instances where tenses were changed and incorrect. Overall, the effort is evident and the story is fun. I will definitely pick up his later works.

Author Chris Ulm has crafted a story that develops many levels and different plot threads as it progresses, offering a tightly-woven tale with mystery, intrigue, and genuine emotions fuelling the fire of the plot itself. One of the things which I found particularly fulfilling in this book was the author’s own emotional intelligence around the sensitive subject of abuse, which helps to characterize Kim and for readers to relate to her temptations and the decisions she makes within the plot. The plot points take us through a fast-paced world of twists and turns as the central mystery deepens, and I really liked the experience of learning and growing with the young protagonist. Overall, I would highly recommend Vengeance: Children of Faust for paranormal fiction fans who like their stories grounded in gritty realism.

I first discovered this book from the author's YouTube channel some months ago, and was quickly endeared to his enthusiastic presence and delivery in his videos. It was after seeing them I learnt he'd written a book, promising blood, gore, action and so much more. I personally read mostly crime, thriller and murder mystery, but once I started to read I was quickly hooked. The author has a good summation of the narrative and where he wants the story to go. The lead characters I found easy to relate to and the various setting and subtext were awash with intrigue and suspense. I fell in love with the cast of characters, and there turmoil was palpable in part, due to the author's graphic storytelling and colorful language. My fingers were mere stubs of their former selves, I just couldn't wait to find out what happens next. I felt a maelstrom of emotions throughout and was sad to see it end. I can't wait for a sequel and to see what else this talented writer has devised. There is even merchandise from the book, complete with characters designs, bios and other affects, which goes to show how much time and effort the author has put in. At vengeanceofficial.com there is heaps more to find including a soundtrack to the book. If you love anime, tragedy and horror you'll love Vengeance!
